Workshops mit Ari Levitt

Mitte Oktober haben wir den internationalen Trainer Ari Levitt zu uns eingeladen. Er unterrichtet seit vielen Jahren Lindy Hop und viele verschiedene andere Tänze.

Ari konzentriert sich im Unterricht auf die Prinzipien und Techniken, die zu wirklich kreativem Paartanz führen. Dementsprechend sind diese vier Workshops offen für Tänzer:innen verschiedenster Tanzrichtungen. Ein halbes Jahr Paartanz-Erfahrung wird vorausgesetzt.

Alle Workshops sind im SLIH Ballroom und in englischer Sprache.
Wir werden ständig Partner:innen wechseln, d.h. Anmeldung auch ohne Partner:in möglich.

Conversational Dance

In conversational dance the lead and follow can be switched between partners, when they are aware of the signals for doing this well.

This class takes the focus off of memorized steps and patterns, and emphasizes the playful part of improvising and creating actual dialogs in the dance.

Here we are learning concepts instead of steps! Look forward to really fun games with which to learn these techniques.

The Art of Musicality

Whether you like to dance solo or with a partner, musicality is the best way to add your unique flavor to your movement and to spice up your dance.

Musicality is an awareness of how your movements reflect the energy, rhythm, and arc of the music you’re listening to. The secret is in learning how to garnish your dance with this kind of pizazz, but not take anything away from your partnership. This informative and inspiring class will take you to that next level.

West Coast Swing for Swing Dancers

West Coast Swing and other Swing dances styles are intertwined.

West Coast Swing is often danced to music that doesn’t swing, but in this class Ari will teach WCS using slower triple-time music, like what we often hear in triple-time blues-based swing or classic laminu or foxtrot tempos.

Lifts, Dips & Liabilities

This class will teach you how to safely execute fun and playful lifts & dips while protecting yourself and your partner from injury or harm.

PLEASE NOTE: The focus of this class is on safety, not flash. Perfect for dancers of all levels. No prior experience required

About Ari

Ari has been partnering, teaching, and performing dance in the Greater Seattle area, nationally, and internationally for over 25 years. 

An award-winning dancer, teacher, and performer, his breadth of styles include Lindy Hop, Balboa, Blues, Ballroom, One-Step, NC2S, WCS, Salsa, Tango, Latin, & Fusion. 

He has been instrumental in creating several innovative new dance styles, including Fusion Waltz and Fusion Swing. He is the co-founder of Waltz Week in Vienna, New Zealand Dance Adventure, and the first international Wellness & Dance Spa Retreat. 

When off the dance floor, Ari enjoys kayaking, sailing, hang-gliding, travel, music, film, and poetry.
