This month the Queer Swing Social visits Amerlinghaus with a talk about “The Queens of Jazz – Black Women who shaped swing dance and music” by @lionhearthanna and then our social dance as usual.

For the themes of February and March we want to combine Black History Month and the Feminist Day of Resistance, creating an intersectional ground for discussion, inspiration and dance. Renowned dancer, international teacher, DJ, artist and swing dance history enthusiast, Hanna Löwenherz, will guide us through the history of Black women in Swing and Jazz.

New location: As many of you might have heard, Amerlinghaus, a cultural centre for activism, community and more, is facing drastic difficulties due to funding cuts. As we strive to shape our event around community‑based and anti-capitalist values, we want to support collectives like this one as much as we can by spreading awareness and contributing financially with the donations we collect at the dance evenings. So, we kindly ask you again to pay as you can, keeping in mind that the very dance we all cherish has always depended on community spaces like this and continues to thrive because of them.
